WHY A THRIVING MIND?
I am Sara Adams. I am a PhD-prepared, board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC). I created A Thriving Mind to offer something that can be difficult to find in today’s health care system; care that feels personal, thoughtful, and human.
Many people have experienced psychiatric care that feels rushed, standardized, or transactional — like moving through a system rather than being supported as a whole person. Appointments can feel short. Decisions can feel predetermined. And it can be difficult to build a relationship with the clinician providing care.
This practice was designed intentionally to be different.
At A Thriving Mind, care is collaborative, unhurried, and tailored to you. I take time to understand your goals, your stressors, your strengths, and what meaningful change actually looks like in your everyday life. Medication management and supportive psychotherapy are integrated into care so treatment makes sense and feels practical — not overwhelming or impersonal.
My goal is not just symptom relief. It’s helping you move toward clarity, steadiness, and a life that feels more like your own.
Mental health care works best when there is trust, privacy, continuity, and space to think together. That is the kind of care this practice was built to provide.
Outside of this practice, I am an Associate Professor and DNP Program Director at Rush University where I am dedicated to cultivating the next generation of psychiatric providers.
